The name used in the eighties by the Salida locals was "Rusty Nail". And yes they had permission. BTW, I heard many stories of Cogans strength at picking up heavy objects (like auto engines).
If you've ever climbed at Flagstaff mountain in Boulder you are likely aware of Smith's Overhang. Richard Smith (its namesake) used to climb at Rusty Nail/Dorthy/Rainbow in the eighties as well. He lived in Buena Vista, worked at Climax (geologist) then moved to Idaho. I saw him there a few times climbing in his kuffsteins with added rubber rand.
Dorthy has way more climbing history than many are aware. Lots of Colorado Springs climbers sampled its problems as well BITD.
